Virginia Adeline Woolf Obituary (1882 – 1941)
Obituary Announcement
Virginia Adeline Woolf
1882 — 1941
Virginia Woolf passed away on March 28, 1941, at the age of 59. She fell into a deep depression after completing her last novel, "Between the Acts," a condition worsened by the Second World War, the destruction of her London home, and a poor reception for her biography of Roger Fry. On March 28, 1941, she ended her life by walking into the fast-flowing River Ouse near her home in Rodmell, Sussex, with a large stone in her pocket. Her body was recovered on April 18. In her suicide note to her husband, Leonard, she expressed certainty of another descent into madness, stating she could no longer fight her illness, and affirming that he had given her the greatest happiness and that she owed him everything.
