Percy Bysshe Shelley, a significant figure in English Romantic poetry and a passionate advocate for radical political and social reform, passed away on July 8, 1822, at the age of 29. He was tragically drowned in a boating accident off the coast of Livorno, Italy. Shelley's body was recovered near Viareggio and subsequently cremated on a nearby beach on August 16, 1822. His ashes found their final resting place in the Protestant Cemetery of Rome, where they were reburied in 1823 under an inscription of "Cor Cordium" (Heart of Hearts). Though not widely recognized during his short life, his profound works such as "Ozymandias," "Ode to the West Wind," and "Prometheus Unbound" profoundly influenced future generations of poets and thinkers.
