Dame Olivia Newton-John died on 8 August 2022, at her home in the Santa Ynez Valley of California, at the age of 73. The cause of death was breast cancer, which had returned, metastasised to her lower back and bones, and progressed to stage IV. Tributes were paid by numerous celebrities and political figures, and landmarks in Melbourne and Sydney were illuminated in her memory.
