Obituary Announcement
Moe Harry Howard
1897 — 1975
Moe Howard, the legendary comedian and actor recognized as the leader of The Three Stooges, passed away on May 4, 1975, at the age of 77. He succumbed to lung cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalized for a week. His death occurred just over three months after that of his fellow Stooge, Larry Fine, and shortly before what would have been his 78th birthday. A heavy smoker for much of his life, Howard left behind a remarkable legacy in comedy. He is entombed in an outdoor crypt at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California, alongside his wife, Helen Schonberger, who passed away later the same year. At the time of his death, Howard was actively working on his autobiography, which was posthumously published as "Moe Howard and the Three Stooges." In honor of their enduring contributions to entertainment, Howard and The Three Stooges were posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 30, 1983.
