Ian Kevin Curtis, the revered lead vocalist and songwriter of Joy Division, passed away at the age of 23 in the early hours of 18 May 1980, by suicide at his home, 77 Barton Street, Macclesfield. His body was discovered by his wife, Deborah Curtis.
