Herbert George Wells, the influential English writer and visionary, passed away on 13 August 1946, at the age of 79, at his London home at 13 Hanover Terrace, overlooking Regent's Park. His body was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium on 16 August 1946, and his ashes were subsequently scattered into the English Channel near Old Harry Rocks, Dorset.
