Gordon Howe (March 31, 1928 – June 10, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, widely considered one of the greatest of all time. Nicknamed "Mr. Hockey", he played 26 seasons in the NHL (25 with the Detroit Red Wings) and six in the WHA from 1946 to 1980. He retired with NHL records in goals (801), assists (1,049), and points (1,850), later surpassed by Wayne Gretzky. A 23-time NHL All-Star, he won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings and six Hart Trophies as MVP.
