Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
1844 — 1900
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, the influential German philosopher, passed away on August 25, 1900, at the age of 55, in Weimar, Germany. Born on October 15, 1844, in Röcken, near Leipzig, Prussian Province of Saxony, Nietzsche's life was marked by an illustrious academic career, profound philosophical contributions, and prolonged health struggles. After resigning from his professorship at the University of Basel, he dedicated himself to writing, producing seminal works such as "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and "Beyond Good and Evil." His final years were spent under family care following a mental breakdown in 1889, attributed to vascular dementia, paralysis, and multiple strokes, complicated by pneumonia. He was laid to rest beside his father at the church in Röcken. His work continues to shape modern thought across philosophy, art, literature, and culture.
