François Roland Truffaut, acclaimed French filmmaker, actor, and critic, passed away on October 21, 1984, at the age of 52, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, due to a brain tumour following a stroke. He was a foundational figure of the French New Wave and celebrated for films such as The 400 Blows, Jules and Jim, and Day for Night. He is interred in Montmartre Cemetery.
