Douglas Noël Adams, the celebrated English author, humorist, and screenwriter, passed away on 11 May 2001, at the age of 49. He collapsed from a heart attack while at Platinum Fitness, a private gym in Santa Barbara, and died at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
