Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, an Italian painter and sculptor, died at the age of 35 on January 24, 1920, in Paris, France, from tubercular meningitis. He was known for his distinctive portraits and nudes. His death was followed by the suicide of his partner, Jeanne Hébuterne, who was pregnant with their second child. An enormous funeral was held in Paris, and he was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery.
